When we ever hear the term, ‘Ocean’, we think of cleanliness. It’s the only thing that gives us food to eat and water to drink. But, the humanity hasn’t been too kind to our ocean and as a result, people have destroyed this valuable resource to a great extent.

1. Stop Drinking Bottled Water: Have you ever bought a plastic water bottle and thrown it away after one use? It’s a usual activity done by a lot of people Every day, millions of people around the world are doing the exact same thing. There is no denying the fact that much of our plastic waste ends up in the ocean. Make sure you use disposable cups and plates; they will help in minimizing the bad environmental impact.
 
2. Don’t Throw Cigarette on Streets:
Just like plastic bottles, cigarettes we smoke find their way into our ocean and onto our shores. For those who don’t know, cigarette filters are comprised of thousands of chemical ingredients that can kill marine and freshwater fish. So if you’re a smoker, always keep this in mind that you should throw your cigarette butt in a bin.

3. Reduce your Carbon Footprint: It is a well-known fact that ocean absorbs more than 25% of human carbon dioxide emissions. Stopping ocean acidification is quite similar to fighting climate change, it is important for us to reduce global carbon dioxide emissions. In a nutshell, opting for your bike or public transport, reducing your overall energy consumption, using green energy like solar and wind, and making more conscious choices about what you eat and shop.

4. Don’t Buy Goods in Plastic Bags: You are already aware of the fact that how much destruction plastics bring to our ocean. When you skip buying goods from big supermarket chains that are wrapped in plastics, you can avoid plastics use while lowering your own carbon footprint by shopping locally. Make sure your prefer paper and glass containers and packages over plastics.

5. Support Marine Life: From sea turtles to corals to seals, all marine lives are under threat.  habitat loss, pollution, invasive species, and overfishing are the major factors that can help in reducing our ocean’s biodiversity.
